The general corporate office space was designed using the open plan theory of space planning and creating architectural corridors connecting the various spaces and functions of the bank. The corridor design was an important architectural feature since the building has an unusually long rectangular geometry, and a one meter wide shear wall ran along the entire length of the space. The bank's patronage of the arts, was emphasized by creating gallery walls and display niches for the purpose of displaying the rich history of Russian Art.
Presented with 4650 m2. (50,000 sq. ft.) of raw office in a newly developed office building on one of the main arterial routes into the heart of Moscow minutes from Red Square. The space consisted of three floors of 1,395 m2 each and one floor of 465 m2. The three floors were all inter-connected by an architectural convenience stairs, as well as being connected with the building fire stairs and elevators. Each floor was segmented by a large shear wall with narrow openings connecting the two sides of the spaces. Due to the new building being built on the piles and partial foundations of an existing building, the column placement was less than ideal, to execute an open plan design.
The program called for creating corporate office space for a prestigious bank having major activity in the United States and European countries. Within the corporate office space, the client requested an executive office suite designed in Traditional Western style, consisting of the CEO's, COO's, executive's assistants, executive bathroom and boardroom. The challenge was to combine the executive space with the general corporate office space. This was accomplished with lighting, materials and general design theory used in the general corporate office space. This project represents the very first time the implementation of ADA guidelines was utilized in the design in Russia.
