The Apple Bank Headquarters at 201/205 East 42nd Street in Manhattan, created a challenge both functionally and aesthetically.
In evaluating the situation, discovery was made that the difference in elevations between the second floor of the old headquarters and the 3rd floor of the newly acquired adjacent space was 3-1/2 feet in height. The next step was to completely gut the interior of the new acquisition, after which the structural modifications were made. The two spaces then were interconnected, providing the bank a total of 40,000 continuous square feet.

As the project emerged into existence, one could distinguish the traditional wood details applied liberally in many areas, combined with the effect of modern lighting and simple wall coverings. On a larger scale, these details are introduced in a setting of open landscape furniture, in combination that promotes the desired image. Ample time was allotted in the studying of the proposed Boardroom, so that its acoustics achieve the optimum in accuracy and voice enhancement, while keeping the traditional design a priority.
